Best Time to Visit Andaman: A Month-by-Month Guide

When to go for calm seas, good visibility, and the fewest crowds — and when to avoid.

November to February — peak season

The most reliable window for calm seas, clear underwater visibility and dependable ferry schedules. This is also peak tourist season, so book accommodation and inter-island ferries well in advance, especially around the December–January holiday period.

March to April — shoulder season

Still good sea conditions with fewer crowds and typically better hotel rates than peak season. Daytime temperatures start climbing, but it remains a strong window for both sightseeing and water activities.

May to September — monsoon

The southwest monsoon brings heavier rain and rougher inter-island ferry crossings. Some water activities may be suspended on rough days. Not recommended for a first visit, though Port Blair itself remains accessible.

October — transition month

Weather is variable as the monsoon recedes. Late October onward is generally a safe bet as conditions stabilise ahead of peak season.
